Tariffs for US customers

Dear US Quilters,

We want to share an important update that may affect your future orders from our workshop in Victoria, Australia.

Starting August 29, 2025, the U.S. government will remove the de minimis exemption, which previously allowed parcels valued under $800 USD to enter duty-free. This means all international parcels, including ours, will now be subject to import tariffs upon arrival in the U.S.

Our handcrafted quilting items typically range from $67 to $120 USD, and under the new rules, U.S. Customs may apply either:

  • A flat fee of up to $80 USD, or
  • A 10% tariff, depending on how the parcel is assessed.

We understand this is a significant change and we’re doing everything we can to minimize the impact. Hopefully, by the 29th August, this will be clarified! We don’t want our customers hit with a $80 flat fee when it could be just 10%, or cancelled altogether?

What This Means for You if we continued without clarification:

  • You may be asked to pay a tariff before receiving your parcel.
  • This fee is not charged by us, but by U.S. Customs, and collected via USPS.
  • Orders shipped before August 29 will not be affected, but we cannot guarantee posting before then as we manufacture.

What We're Doing:

  • We’re actively exploring options to simplify this process, including prepaid tariff solutions. Australia Post is working with US Customs and Border Protection on this.
  • We will keep you informed as we learn more and adjust our shipping methods.
  • We’re here to answer your questions and help you navigate this change.

We remain committed to offering our Australian-made quilting products directly to you without middlemen, inflated prices, or compromise. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

Warm regards, Norma and Edward Grimmer Crowlands, Victoria, Australia
